Information and Referral

An information and referral service that provides adults age 55 and over, family members, caregivers and others access to information and assistance for older adults. Council on Aging staff will answer your questions and/or direct you to the appropriate resource.

Nutritional Services

Home Delivered Meals (Meals on Wheels)

Weekday meal delivered to home bound older adults, ages 60 and over, who are unable to prepare their own meals and have no one else to do it for them. Meals meet 1/3 of the RDA for vitamins and nutrients.

Congregate Nutrition Program

Adults age 60 and over meet at the senior centers in Ayden, Bethel, Farmville, Fountain, and Greenville to socialize and enjoy each other’s company over lunch.  Participants must register in advance to receive a lunch and availability is based on congregate nutrition program funding.  

Nutritional Supplement Program

Ensure, Glucerna, and Nepro products are available at reduced prices.  Products are available for purchase Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Senior Centers

Adults ages 60 and over are offered programs targeted to meet their social, educational, physical and recreational interests. A lunch is also served to those who meet the eligibility criteria. Activities and programs that appeal to all older adults are offered at the Greenville Senior Wellness Center as well as our other locations in Ayden, Bethel, Farmville, and Fountain. Activities include exercise, bingo, billiards, computer classes, arts and crafts, quilting, cards and games, monthly dances, woodworking, painting, health screenings, holiday celebrations, social activities, speakers on a variety of topics and more. 

  • Greenville Senior Wellness Center operates
    Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 12:30pm.
  • Farmville Senior Wellness Center operates
    Monday through Friday from 9:30am to 1:30pm.
  • Fountain Senior Wellness Center operates
    Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 12:30pm.
  • Ayden Senior Wellness Center operates
    Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 1:00pm.
  • Bethel Senior Wellness Center operates
    Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 1:00pm

         

** Seniors interested in eating lunch, must complete a registration process to determine eligibility before a lunch can be served.

Medical Transportation

Transportation to medical appointments for seniors ages 60 and over who do not receive Medicaid. Funds are occasionally available to transport disabled individuals under 60 who do not receive Medicaid.  A registration process must be completed before services are provided.

Medicare Counseling - Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP)

Unbiased counseling, information and assistance with Medicare Part D (prescription drug plans), Medicare Supplemental Plans, and basic Medicare benefits.  Services are provided by volunteers and staff who are trained by the NC Department of Insurance Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP).  Appointments are required.  Speakers are also available upon request.
